Further along the coast is Thalaramba: The main tourist towns in south Sri Lanka are Weligama, Mirissa, Galle, Unawatuna and Tangalle. But the beauty of the coast is that there are a plethora of smaller towns and quiet bays for you to stay in. Mirissa is one of the prettiest bays on the coast and retains some of the ambiences of a sleepy fishing village. What To Expect

Having made its way to almost every traveller’s Instagram profile when they visit Mirissa, the Coconut Tree Hill is a must-do when you’re in Mirissa. The Coconut Tree Hill is a private coconut estate with a nearby temple set on a high cliff overlooking the glistening waters of the Indian Ocean and the untouched stretch of golden beach. Located on Mirissa Beach, Parrot Rock is strictly for the adventurous traveller. Set across the tranquil blue waters and the golden sandy Mirissa beach, Parrot Rock is a small rock island about 50 feet away. This isolated viewpoint offers one of the most scenic and best views of Mirissa beach. Getting across is quite tricky and with only a moment to cross over from the beach to Parrot Rock before the waves come crashing again, use your wit and quick feet to get across. Once you’re on the other side, a narrow path leads you to the summit of this rock where you can take in the stunning views of the sea as it surrounds you and the golden beach that stretches for miles on either end! You’ll even get a glimpse of the famed Coconut Tree Hill on the far left.

The Habaraduwa Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery is a conservation center located in Habaraduwa. It is dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of sea turtles, and it also plays an important role in educating the public about these endangered animals.

Stilt fishing is a traditional Sri Lankan fishing method where fishermen perch on stilts fixed into the seabed to catch fish. It is often considered a cultural and photographic attraction. Stilt fishing Beach park – Koggala is a park in Koggala, Sri Lanka, where you can see traditional stilt fishermen perched on poles. The park is located on the coast, close to the town of Habaraduwa. It is a popular tourist destination, and it is a great place to learn about stilt fishing and to see the beautiful scenery of the Sri Lankan coast.

Thalpe is a quiet town nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the major towns situated in the southern coastal belt. Thalpe town is filled with history, adventure, culture and cuisine along with the Thalpe Beach which is a relatively clean and calm beach. Stilt fishermen are commonly seen in this coastal town and it is a great way to learn more about the way of life in this beautiful coastal town. According to the villagers the rock pools were cut out of the corals around 50 years ago and was used to soak coconut husks in order to separate the coconut coir.
